Barry Round Table

Fundraising and Community Service

We are Barry Round Table are rightly proud of our fundraising efforts that we, and other Round Table's around the world perform. We are all unpaid volunteers, just like you, and every pound we collect goes to our charitable funds; we draw no salary or expenses for our time.

In the main, our philosophy is that we raise the money in and around the town of Barry and we will spend it there, among the people that helped us raise it and where our local knowledge ensures that it is best spent. A notable and worthy exception to this approach came after the Tsunami disaster in 2004 in South East Aisa when Round Table of Britain and Ireland raised over £300,000 and donated it in equal parts to India and Sri Lanka where our fellow Round Table members are monitoring its use to rebuild schools shattered in the disaster. Barry Round Table was pleased to be associated with that appeal and contributed towards the national donation.

Privacy means that it is not easy to give specific examples of recent donations, however they have included:-

  • Christmas party for the children at LLandough Hospital
  • Toys and other games for hospital wards
  • Disneyland holiday for a seriously ill child and its parents
